The people of the Dominican Republic are very friendly. Although most live in very poor homes they always welcome you with a smile and a traditional 'hola'. Living conditions in the DR are difficult, it's hard to earn a living, at lunch you will probably only see beans and rice at the table, there is a lot of corruption and constant electric power outages which last for hours, neverthless you are always greeted with a smile (Buenas).
